On October 3, 1927, seven people from the Icelandic business community met at Héðinn Valdimarsson’s office to establish Olíuverzlun Íslands, Olís, the oldest oil company in Iceland. Héðinn, who was the office manager of Landsverzlun, a member of parliament for the People’s Party and chairman of Dagsbrún, became the first CEO. Olís celebrated its 90th anniversary on October 3, 2017 with a myriad of events, offers at stations, events for employees and more.
Over the years, the company has remained steadfast as there have been enormous changes in Icelandic society. To mark this occasion, a television advertisement was made based on old photographs from throughout the company’s 90 year history.
